| What is The Rensselaer Community Alliance? Community Alliance is neighbors looking out for one another to reduce crime in Rensselaer neighborhoods. It is getting to know each other and becoming familiar with your neighbors habits and vehicles so that you will know when something is out of the ordinary. The community works with the Rensselaer Police Department to report suspicious activities in their neighborhood. The Alliance promotes good security practices, observant and caring neighbors, and cooperation between the Community and the Police Department. How to become involved: - Attend bi-annual meetings to be held within your residential district - Report crime to Police Department and/or your district representative. - Offer your help whenever you can How to prevent crime: - Keep your doors, garage, and windows shut and locked at all times. - Don’t leave lawn equipment or toys outside or in an open garage. - Keep car doors locked and windows shut when parked. - Don’t keep valuables in plain view inside your car. - Remember as many crimes occur during daylight hours as at night. What are the benefits of Community Alliance? - You will be more aware of the crimes in your area and how to prevent them from happening to you. - You and your family will feel safer! - You will meet more neighbors and establish new friendships. - Your neighbors will watch out for your property while you are gone and vice-versa. - You will have a sense of accomplishment from doing something about crime. |
