Rensselaer takes great pride in the annual events that bring our community together.  Events like Little Cousin Jasper Festival, Taste of Rensselaer, OktoberFest, Farmer's Market, Fire Dept. Pancake Breakfast, Art in the Alley,   Prairie Arts-Carnegie Center Events,  4^th of July Parade and Christmas Parade, Cruise Night and Relay for Life just to name a few.

As a community we have many organizations that help to promote and improve the quality of life in Rensselaer from the Chamber of Commerce, Jasper County Economic Development Organization, Retail Merchants Association, Main Street Rensselaer.

Rensselaer is also home to the Jasper County Hospital, Jail and Court House, Amtrak Train Stop, Rensselaer Central School Corp. Grades K-12, Saint Joseph College and St. Augustine School Grades K-5, Good Samaritan Food Pantry and Rensselaer Republican Newspaper.

You will find in the City of Rensselaer we have an excellent police department, large park system, low cost utility rates, and a state of the art recycling/trash program.
